- Abstract
Liquid metal batteries (LMBs) are cheap and efficient energy storage systems developed in recent years. The large scale applications of LMBs are critical to the utilization of renewable energy and the development of advanced smart grid. This study focuses on the design of grid connection based on LMBs. Considering the LMB's unique characteristics, a second-order RC model is introduced and the suitable DC-DC converter is selected as well as the inverter. The system can be connected to the power system of 380 V through a smoothing reactor and a shunt filter. This research establishes the foundation researches for the application of LMBs in the grid energy storage filed.
