Abstract

Earth pressure is usually measured by the earth pressure cell. Calibration parameters from the manufacturer is often obtained conducting calibration in the gas or liquid systematically with a set of pressure, which can not be used in soil test directly. Therefore, in order to find out a well-matched curve to target work environment, calibration of earth pressure cells should be done in the simulation or target environment before their use. In this paper, based on the research outcome so far, factors affecting the calibration are analyzed, some preventive and improvement measures are put forward, which is expected to benefit the choice and the calibration of earth pressure cells.
