- Abstract
East Java province is one of the area that face a lot of drug use or narcotics problem. Since BNN (Badan Narkotika Nasional) was created at 2009, this institution handled more than 7 thousands cases. In national level, from 4.9 million drug/narcotics users in Indonesia, 400 thousands of them were in East java. The problem of the drug users relate with how to develop rehabilitation process to make the drug users free from their bad habit. This problems are complex because it relates with the individual characteristics of the users, their background and social affiliations. Therapeutic communication for them need specific approach to reach the aim to make them free from the narcotics. Therapists should consider personal aspects and mental capacity of the drug users. The research question in this project is how the therapeutic communicatons patterns for the drug users implemented by rehabilitation institutions in East Java. Researcher use qualitative approach to find pattern of therapeutic communcation for the drug users. Patterns of therapeutic communication can be shown in two kind of interaction.
