Abstract

There are two main types of quack doctors written by scholars in the Song Dynasty: one is doctor with inferior medical skills; the other is virtueless doctor. The existence of quack doctors has brought great pain to the patients and their families, also destroyed the image of doctors and hindered the development of medicine. Literatures in the Song Dynasty described quack doctors in a large number, which was related to the backward medical conditions at that time, as well as the subjective factors of literati.
