- Abstract
This paper first reflects on the limitations of the traditional oral English teaching model, and then demonstrates the necessity of incorporating cross-cultural speculative competence into oral English teaching and the feasibility of applying TED speech to oral English teaching to cultivate cross-cultural speculative competence. On this basis, the paper also explores how to apply TED speech to oral English teaching to achieve the goal of improving students' critical thinking ability and cross-cultural ability, and puts forward some suggestions.
