Abstract

In Huarong dialect of Hunan province, “geren” has two usages. One is “geren 1”, whose meaning and usage is just like the Mandarin reflexive "ziji" .In additon, “geren” has a special usage—commentary adverb “geren 2”. “Geren 2” is a subjective marker of discourse whose function is to strengthen modality or stress certain situation.
