- Abstract
This paper explores how speakers use address terms metaphorically to express their emotions. A co-variation scale of emotion and meaning is constructed and the metaphorical realization of address terms are revealed: speakers may express the positive emotions by choosing negative address terms, or express the negative emotions by choosng positive address terms. And an illustration is provided by analyzing the examples in some Chinese literary works.
