Abstract

From the perspective of creation art, the article explores the historical evolution, creation form and symbolic meaning of Chinese traditional gourd-shaped art. It is believed that the traditional Chinese gourd-shaped creation art has historical stage characteristics in evolution. It can be divided into two types in form: three-dimensional entity and two-dimensional plane. It contains multiple meanings of primitive religion, Taoist symbol, literati character, and auspicious sign, which also serves as valuable resource for creative design.
