Abstract

The fresh water snails found in the swamp waters of South Kalimantan, there are two variants. The first is greenish or brownish with three brownish lines surrounding the shell (Pomacea glauca) called the kalambuai (Banjar) and the second is golden yellow with the shell thinner and transparent and has no circular lines (Pomacea canaliculata). Research has been carried out at the Poultry Laboratory of the Agriculture Faculty of the Islamic University of Kalimantan with the aim of evaluated the effect of processing "kalambuai" swamp on nutrient composition, Protein Efficiency Ratio, metabolic energy, protein digestibility, amino acid composition and amino acid digestibility. This study used an experimental method (2x4x5) factorial by the uses 240 male alabio ducks to designed which was repeated 5 times where each experimental unit consisted of 12 male Alabio ducks aged 2 months. The first factor is the species snails (Pomacea glauca and Pomacea canaliculata) and the second factor is the processing process (steamed, biological silage, acidic and tepsil silage). Determination of metabolic energy using the method of Sibbald and Morse (1983), while protein digestibility using the method of Coen., et al (1996). The results showed that the biological silage processing method gave the best results and improved nutrient composition, protein efficiency ratio, metabolic energy, protein digestibility, amino acid composition and amino acid digestibility. Value of Efficiency in the Use of Protein (EPP value) Species of P. Glauca were higher (46.971%) compared to species of P. Canaliculata (44.735%) and swamp snails which were processed by the biological silage method which had a higher level of 56.333% while the lowest was fresh water snail processed by tepsil method (33.745%). The highest protein efficiency ratio value was obtained in the fresh water snail species of P. glauca which was processed by biological silage method (58,258%). The highest metabolic energy value was obtained in the fresh water snail species of P. glauca which was processed by biological silage method 3076.44 kcal/.kg. Protein digestibility The species of P. glauca was higher (85,194%) compared to species of P. Canaliculata (82,951%), and there was an increase in protein digestibility in fresh water snails which were processed by biological silage method (85,423%). The highest protein digestibility was obtained in the fresh water snails species P. glauca treated with biological silage method (86,944%). Amino acid digestion of P. glauca species was higher than that of P. Canaliculata and an increase in amino acid digestibility in freshwater snails was processed by biological silage method. The digestibility coefficient of P. glauca species was higher (82.78 - 84.78%) compared to P. Canaliculata (81.99 - 83.48%).
