- Abstract
The traditional ancient manuscripts of the Bugis in South Sulawesi both I La Galigo manuscript and Lontarak can be traced to find how the role and gender were in the practice of kingdoms history. This paper aims to analyze gender perspectives in some ancient manuscripts and its history as well as to find its relevance to modern society today in South Sulawesi. This study is library research that uses documents as a primary and secondary source. The results of this literature study show that there is important relevance of gender roles in understanding the position of men and women in this millennial era.
