- Abstract
Through field investigation and literature review, this paper conducts a comprehensive study on the production process, pattern art, and cultural connotation of the Kirgiz peoples' folk appliqué felt blanket “Shyrdak” in Xinjiang, China, and believes that the production process can be divided into floor blanket felting and surface blanket felting two parts. The motifs of the beasts, horns, birds, weapons, mountains and rivers commonly seen in Kirgiz people's daily life are used in its patterns. Patterns are arranged symmetrically with bright colors and rich changes which reflect the profound cultural traditions of Kirgiz people.
