- Abstract
Similar descriptions of human sufferings are found in early Israelite literature The Book of Job and in Flannery O’connor’s short novels. By comparing sufferings from three aspects of material loss, physical pain and mental trauma, this paper intends to reveal the source and nature of human sufferings, which would be helpful in figuring out possible solutions in the presence of human suffering.
