- Abstract
In this paper the finite element method for calculating the crack width of reinforced concrete structures is deduced. Based on the model test of the back dam model of the Three Gorges Dam, the nonlinear finite element analysis of the pressure pipeline model is carried out and the numerical results are compared with the model test results. The results show that the crack propagation load, the crack propagation process, the steel stress and the pipeline displacement are in good agreement with the model test results. Under the design of internal water pressure the maximum crack width calculated by the crack width finite element method is 0.477mm.It's significantly larger than the maximum crack width obtained by the standard crack width calculation formula 0.285mm, which is closer to the actual measured crack width of many hydropower station pressure pipelines.
