- Abstract
The article aims at presenting multilingualism conceptual ideas as promising and effective for being implemented in language education. The theoretical part of the article spells out the concept of multilingualism and its values on the basis of culturological, linguistic-culturological and sociocultural approaches. The article emphasizes that multilingualism develops in the process of forming language and educational policies at all their levels. In the practical part of the article, the authors analyze the results of surveying students on studying foreign languages and cultures. Using methods of theoretical research, introducing a multilingual coursebook into the educational process and surveying learners and students at Northern (Arctic) Federal University, Russia, allowed revealing the main didactic principles of teaching foreign languages in the context of the diversity of languages and cultures.
