Abstract

The article is devoted to the role of the information revolution in the formation of the modern innovative society. We made an attempt to clarify the relationship of the phenomena that characterize the development of information society: information revolution — information explosion — information society. The analysis of information society formation was performed on the basis the concepts of information revolutions of A. I. Raktov, E. Toffler, D. Bell. We also highlighted main trends in the development of modern electronic environment, which are characterized by the intellectualization of information technologies. Positive and negative aspects of the development of modern information technologies, in particular, the Internet technologies, are shown.
