- Abstract
The Color Purple is an African-American black culture film that expresses the theme of the growth of African-American women who were unique in the early 20th century. This paper attempts to study the process and motivation of the formation of black female personality in the film from the perspective of intercultural psychology. That is, the dual motivations of the environment and the individual make it a personality trait of reliance and enforcement. With Celie's economic independence, the transformation of the family model, and the spiritual journey of roots in African culture, her personality eventually developed into autonomous-relational self-interpretation of personality. Finally, she found culture attachment in cross-cultural conflicts, and achieved the independence of personality and spirit.
