Abstract

Liu Yun’s life has experienced the process from leaving to returning, and so is his artistic creation. In Liu Yun’s artistic creation experience, returning is not really going back to the past, but facing the international vision and contemporary cultural concepts, constantly pursuing innovation, innovating traditional ink painting with novel ways of expression from the perspective of modernity, depicting his hometown, and creating works in line with the development characteristics of the times. Liu Yun’s creative theme has spread from pluralism to centralized depiction of his hometown, and his way of expression has changed from oil painting to ink painting, opening a distance between modern ink language and traditional ink painting. In his quiet, harmonious and graceful pictures, we can see the interaction between tradition and modernity, which shows the feeling of Hunan, the clear and clear boundary and the change of leaps and bounds, creating a new atmosphere of Chinese landscape painting.
