- Abstract
Legal protection through Intellectual Property Rights has become increasingly vital in the present age of ideas, knowledge, and competition. The paper traces importance of IPR, different forms of IPR and argues why Patent is the most appropriate option when it comes to protection of computer programs or software. It analyses the legal framework in different jurisdictions with regards to software patents. It further focuses on AI and Big Data based inventions and discusses challenges which could come in way of patenting these.
