- Abstract
The ability to identify users’ emotions represents a valuable asset for improving human-computer interaction. Considering that emotions are conveyed mostly through facial expressions, we have devised EmpaTech, a system that allows the recognition of expressions from a live video feed. Features are extracted using the Intel Perceptual Computing SDK and then are classified using learning algorithms. Classification is based on the Facial Action Coding System introduced by Ekman and Friesen. Promising results were obtained from experimental testing.
